Roll off containers are a very versatile tool that can be used for so many different uses and I will show you a few in this article. They can be used to move equipment, transport debris and deliver materials to name but a few! They are a vital tool for residential cleanings, house cleaning, home additions, new home construction, renovation projects and many more! Today I’m going to take a few minutes to discuss the 3 most common types of containers, what they can be used for, and some common mistakes people make when ordering certain types of containers.
1. Garbage Containers
Garbage containers are the most common and most versatile type of container rental. Roll offs have many different sizes and configurations. The most common sizes being 10, 20 and 30 yard containers. Here at Las Vegas Dumpster Rental HQ, we carry containers of 11 yard, 18 yard, 30 yard and 40 yard of debris. The types of projects that need garbage containers are roofing projects, new construction, renovation projects, house cleaning, garage cleaning, basement and loft cleaning and many more.
The typical rental period for a garbage container is 1 week so you should pay special attention to the rental period policy of the company you choose to work with. Some will work with you on your rental period while others may follow a strict time period on a rental container. Knowing this will avoid problems along the way. Talk to your carrier and let them know what you are doing and what you are thinking about in terms of time. They should be able to advise you what they can and cannot do. We guarantee you 1 week with the trash container. If you need it any longer, we will make it done for you as long as we do not need it. While this is our policy, it is not everyone’s. Asking your carrier should be a priority for you.
2. Concrete / Asphalt / Dirt Containers
The second most common type of container rental is for masonry and asphalt products. Many customers call us because they are in the process of a major home improvement project and need a container. Oftentimes they are removing their driveways, walkways and patios and need a container for disposal of the old materials. Concrete containers are the most common type of container. They can include a sidewalk removal, home foundation removal, basement removal, pool removal, or yard removal to name a few. If you have an asphalt driveway, you may need an asphalt container.
Here at Las Vegas Dumpster Rental HQ, we offer containers of 11 yard and 18 yard for these materials. As far as landfills, you may have to get rid of filler, perhaps you are removing the dirt to install a driveway or maybe you have some other home improvement project you need to get rid of dirt. We can do that for you no problem! We offer containers of 12 yard for dirt. We do not offer 20 yard containers for dirt because they are simply too heavy for trucks to pull.
3. Yard Debris
The third most common type of container rental is for yard debris. Yard debris includes leaves, brush, logs and stumps. While there are other types, these 4 are the most common. While it seems logical to assume that you can get a yard trash container and throw all the yard waste in a container, it does not work that way. Yard trash bins are broken down into specific types and mixing different types of debris together is not allowed. For example, if you order a brush box and fill it with half leaves and medium brush, no problem right? The leaves grow on branches so of course they go together. This would be wrong. The brush is chipped in the mulch and the leaves are composted in the topsoil. While the same facility does this here in Las Vegas County, they do so in separate areas of the facility.
A landfill loaded with both would be considered debris and subject to the higher fees associated with garbage dumps and trucking from the landfill to the local landfill. If you get a picture of the brush and put the limbs in it that are larger than 4 inches, it would be considered a trunk or stump box. If you order a container of leaves, you can only have leaves in it.
We save money when we can recycle your waste and wherever we can save money, we pass these savings on to you. If we can not recycle the container, we will have to take the debris to the local landfill and pay to dispose of your materials. If you paid for a box of sheets and we can not discard them as sheets, you will be charged additional charges including removal charges and additional shipping charges. No one wins when a recycling bin cannot be disposed of properly. Your best bet is to ask your carrier what the rules are in your particular area and order the correct container based on those rules.
Whether you are doing a new home construction or doing some garden work around the house, a trash can can be a useful tool to achieve your ultimate goals. Containers can also be used to deliver the materials to your work site as well. Many carriers will offer to transport materials to your site for you for a fee. The tariff must be discussed between the customer and the carrier, but the containers can be used to deliver stone, dirt and many other types of materials.
When choosing your carrier, take into account the considerations mentioned above and discuss them with your carrier. If you work together with your carrier, you may have a problem free disposal by avoiding problems such as contaminated containers. The rules for recycling vary by region of the country where you live and a good carrier will know how to dispose of waste in the most cost-effective and legal way possible. I hope this blog helps answer any questions you have regarding some of the basic uses of junk containers and hope your project will be as smooth as you plan!
